Elton was scheduled to perform at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on September 8, 2012, but it never happened. At about 8:15 p.m., it was announced he had taken ill and wouldn’t be able to perform.

A disappointed crowd of an estimated more than 5,000 people left the arena. Many had come from out-of-town to see the performer and some were seeing him in person for the first time.

Sue Warrington, Memorial Centre arena division manager, advised fans to hold onto their tickets as they would try to reschedule him for another performance at a later date, and “as soon as possible.”
