Elton John is suing his longtime personal assistant and business manager Bob Halley.

He issued a High Court writ against Halley earlier this week for reasons as yet unknown. Halley has been one of Elton's longest serving aides - working for the star for over 30 years - and previously worked as the singer's personal assistant and chauffeur before landing the role of business manager. A source said: “It is a real shock.”

But this is not the first time Elton has taken an aide to court - in 2000 he filed a multi-million pound High Court battle against ex-manager John Reid, after claiming the employee had mishandled his business affairs.
