‘Today’ show goes retro for Elton contest
Friday, January 20 2017 |
When “Today” host Tamron Hall posted a mysterious pic last week in a 1970s costume and wig with “details coming soon,” speculation began over what the upcoming project could be.
PageSix.com has learned that the cast of “Today,” including Matt Lauer and Al Roker, were all in period garb to shoot a video for a contest created by Elton for his fans to make clips to his classic songs.
They hear the NBC anchors filmed a choreographed video to “Bennie and the Jets” at the Cutting Room. A source said, “The hosts — who are all Elton fans — were 1970s roadies backstage at an Elton John concert.”
The video’s being revealed January 23, 2017 on “Today.”
