Is he really up for that or is he just ready for a holiday after a long stretch of live performances?

At the show in Carcassonne, France, on July 15, 2014 Elton announced the end of his career: "I have nine more shows and then I stop. No more shows, no more music, no more albums, nothing. I just want to spend time with my children".

He very calmly repeated that statement three more times during the show, leaving fans worried. He ended the concert with "I enjoyed the show but I know I have to go ...".

The long-term fans are aware that Elton has pulled off many stunts like that since 1976. Chances are that he will take it all back at the show on Lyon, France on July 16, 2014.
