Songs are lightning
When they strike you
You hang on every line
They’re bits of history
Don’t try to change ‘em
It’s how you’re feeling at the time

There are other live versions of this song that I like better, but this isn't bad, and the song is superb. Gave it ****.

I NEVER listen to Here & There, and I have no idea why this is. The double disc reissue is certainly packed with content, but for some reason I never feel the urge to break this out. I remember it having a really interesting take on "Love Song" with Elton at a piano, buuut....not much else. Why are bootlegs and solo sets more appealing than this official release from Elton and the band, near their creative peaks?

I know exactly what you're saying, lapras. I hadn''t played that for YEARS. Finally I got it out the other day and just picked through both cd's, playing my favorites, and honestly speaking, the songs sounded fantastic! Try playing it again someday, lapras.

(Btw, this wasn't one of the songs I played. I remember that this particular song is just ok from this show).

3 1/2 stars.

The studio version is clearly superior. This live rendition, while good (Nigel's kit booms pretty nicely), just doesn't reach the heights of the original, at least in part because the original had the choral arrangement for backing vocals.
