re: Roger Pope:

According to another EJ site, Roger Pope is ill with cancer. The information is apparently from Caleb Quaye's Facebook page.

In case newer fans aren't aware, Roger Pope was Elton's drummer on "Rock of the Westies" in 1975 and "Blue Moves" in 1976 and was a part of those huge Dodger Stadium shows and the "Louder Than Concorde" tour. Caleb was also involved in all of this at the same time as EJ's recently re-introduced guitarist.

If the news is accurate about Roger's health, it is sad news. Our prayers go out to Roger and his family.

Roger Pope died on the day you posted September 17th at his home in Southampton, England.

A sad loss, IMO the best drummer Elton has had.

That was a great band. I went to my first concert, Hall and Oates in 1978, only because Pope and Quaye and the Blue Moves band had been hired away by H&O.

I love Roger's work on Westies and Blue Moves, and also saw him during the Louder Than Concorde Tour in 1976.

It's sad to recount how many of Elton's band members are gone.
